Google Summer Of Code 2008

In GSoC, Life on March 28, 2008 at 10:05 pm

It is an amazing organization that give students a chance to focus on a project and improve themselves in a specific topic throughout the summer. I have been informed by Pardus Planet a week ago, and started to research about some projects.I have been preparing my proposal for Google Summer of Code. Actually, I had also heard someone from Turkey who attend to GSoC last year. It is a very good opportunity for me to improve my Java skills. Especially, Java Path Finder project attracts me very much. The goal of this project is to collect a set of Java programs from several textbooks to verify with JPF. The JPF project has been developing for 9 years mostly by researchers from the Robust Software Engineering (RSE) group at the NASA Ames Research Center. Although my childhood dream for being an astronaut did not come true, I can have an opportunity to work with this unique group.

Another project which looks interesting is from Berkeley. Ptolemy II project is also considerable for me. My interest in wireless systems can develop by this project. I will put my proposals in here later on. I hope I can wear the lovely T-shirt of GSoC as soon as possible:)

It is not my first and last blog but I’ve changed my mind and moved to WordPress. My Turkish blog is not moved, it is there

I have just come to my room now, I am really filled with Japanese :) Hiragana images are streaming on my mind. I have to work on it. I want to construct my brain box again. I have heard it a year ago on a website but I can not remember the url of it. I will mention about it later on. I have to work on my project proposal. Although I have 3 exams, 1 presentation, 1 assigned hw and 1 important lab project, I won’t give up searching and working on it.

On the other hand, Java is growing up :) I have to catch it. Today’s lecture was funny and interesting. I will study on Java’s mouse interaction, it is a bit different. Components at the top get the event such that we can not restate the movement of mouse on the buttons and frames :)
